MUSIC is one of the most human ways we can tell our stories…
Throughout history, music has been the universal language of sound.
It’s how we’ve passed down our stories, channeled our emotions, and sent messages through time.
From spiritual hymns to orchestral diatribes: music connects us to the past and influences our future.
Since the advent of the industry created to monotize music, music making for those intended purposes has been corrupted by greed and power.
Professionally, music has become a business more than an art form. And with that new found business-centered purpose, a multitude of problems have arisen in all parts of the music industry.
In web2, various companies have targeted these problems in isolation, but these facts remain the same:
Artists still cannot earn enough to make a living and fight against an industry that diminishes their ownership and their worth;
Those who listen have no way of sharing and connecting with each other without judgement;
And those who want to experience music live only can if they can afford it.
All the while, the companies who control the music catalogs and the social platforms who host toxic music conversation reap growing profits year over year.
As an industry, we put profit first and left people behind. When we put people behind, we lose the purpose of the art that has transcended generations.
We are the Creative Office of Music Progression, otherwise known as COMP…
…and we want you to join the COMP INITIATIVE — the mission to save music and the arts from power, greed, negativity, and the industries that hold them captive.
